The Island Fire

"His voice rose under the black smoke
before the burning wreckage of the island;
and infected by that emotion, the other
little boys began to shake and sob too."
The Island Fire symbolizes human nature
because since the boys have been stuck
on this island for so long, they start to
go back to human nature, which Golding
illustrates as chaotic and evil.
