The English pursued the remaining Pequot, killing or capturing most of them. The final battle occurred near Fairfield Swamp, where the remaining Pequot were either killed or captured. Many survivors were sold into slavery or distributed to other Native American tribes. The Pequot as a distinct power were effectively destroyed.
