Organic compounds containing 1+ hydroxyl (OH)
1. # main chain, must include OH as lowest
possible #. Carbon # that OH is located on goes
in front of parent name, don't include if # is 1
2. Remove "-e" from end of parent name
& replace with "-ol" ('ane'-> 'anol')
3. If multiple OH; add di or tri in front of ol
and state position # for each
3. Name and identify branches & their #
4. Put it together (branch #, branch name,
position of OH, parent name with -ol) {b}{r}
