Single bonds of only carbon and hydrogen atoms forming a saturated compound
1. Name and number main chain (longest chain)
2. State # of carbons in main chain and add the
suffix "ane" to the root for that #
3. Name branches (depending on amount of
carbons write the root and add the suffix "yl")
4. Give the branches the lowest carbon #
possible in the main chain
6. Combine name (branch # + branch name +
main chain name)
