At the beginning of your upkeep, put a time
counter on Annual Automaton.
Annual Automaton can't attack or block unless
it has an even number of time counters on it.
Remove all time counters from Annual
Automaton, then sacrifice it: You gain life equal
to the number of time counters removed this
way.
