Art Censorship

Germany // 1933-1945
Hitler wished to eliminate the "Bolshevization" of art. Nazi-approved art followed themes such as German nationalism, heroism, physical strength, families, and motherhood. The Chamber of Visual arts was created to censor "offensive art". Nazi's removed art from museums if it was seen as an expression of Jewish or modern art. If Hitler was seen in the artwork he was typically pictured as a father figure.
