Athenian Woman

Athenian women served far inferior roles in society compared to men. They were homeschooled as children by their mothers, learning the way of house-keeping, motherhood and wrestling. They were not taught to read because their parents were afraid they would become too spoilt when the grew up. Once
they were adults, they would be allocated husbands,
and teach their daughters all the skills they had been taught, and care for the family and the home.
