Declassified archival data gives 81,116 Soviet dead
for the operation. Another 280,251 were reported
wounded or sick. The Soviets claimed to have
captured nearly 480,000 German soldiers, while
German research put the number of dead between
92,000 and 100,000. Some 125,000 civilians are estimated to have died during the entire operation.
