Booker T. Washington

Booker T. Washington was born a slave and would become a civil rights activist. He would get his education and found Tuskegee Institute. He believed that if African Americans could show their worth they would slowly gain equality. He believed in gradualism. An example is the Atlanta Compromise which would except second class jobs for equality.
