The Bubonic Plague is an infectious disease that is caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis and is transmitted to humans from infectious rats by the oriental rat flea. It is fatal in about 50 to 70% untreated cases and only about 10% in treated cases. There are treatments in the form of antibiotics. In the U.S. about 2000 people get the plague.
