Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as Buddha,
is the God worshiped in Buddhism. He was a Hindu
prince who renounced his position and wealth to seek enlightenment as a spiritual ascetic. He eventually achieved enlightenment or Nirvana underneath the
Bodhi tree. Buddha contributed to many areas of philosophy and taught about Four Noble Truths.
