Castro’s Censorship Efforts

Once Castro assumed power, the government nationalized the media. Only certain radio stations were allowed with the requirement of promoting the government. Castro used the police and military to censor the media in order to consolidate his power and prevent political opposition from gaining a movement/popularity. Castro also implemented radio jammers that disrupted U.S radio from entering Cuba which prevented Emigres/U.S from contacting Cubans.
