Catastrophism

{r} Catastrophism (also known as Punctuated Equilibrium) explains that for most of the time species are stable but every so often there is a drastic event that prompts a rapid change. Ex: meteor killing the dinosaurs. These events happening reshapes genetic composition, by survival of some genes and ending of others (natural selection.)
