Chadwick was born in Bollington, England. He was intelligent but shy, and when an error was made in his enrolment, he did not correct it and instead went along
to study physics under Ernest Rutherford. He continued
to do so after WWI ended, moving to Cambridge to
follow Rutherford. Chadwick won the Nobel Prize in
1935. During WWII, he was part of the project to
develop nuclear weapons.
