Common Confederate Solider

Confederate soldiers' uniform color was
technically gray. However, due to Confederates
being undersupplied and equipt, many soldiers
did not have a gray uniform and instead wore
their own clothes and in some cases wore a
"butternut" colored uniform, which was stolen
uniform from a Union soldier that had been
boiled in a solution including walnut hulls,
acorns, and lye.
