"Darry" Curtis

Ponyboy's oldest brother, Darrel, also known as "Darry," is a twenty-year-old greaser who is raising Ponyboy because their parents died in a car crash. Very strong, athletic, and intelligent, Darry didn't go to college despite getting a scholarship. Instead, he works two jobs to hold the family together. The unofficial leader of the greasers, he becomes an authority figure for Ponyboy. Ponyboy believes that Darry truly belongs with the Socs because of his intellect and scholarship ye
