Densoviruses
Rapid DNA mutations
Densoviruses are arthropod-associated
parvoviruses that infect a wide range of hosts, including insects
and crustaceans. However,
the best studied examples are those found in Dictyoptera, Diptera,
Lepidoptera, Odonata and Orthoptera. Densoviruses can invade
and replicate within host nuclei causing nuclear hypertrophy or
densonucleosis, which gives
them their name.
