Diamantinasaurus
Reach, Trample
The type species of the genus is D. matildae, first described
and named in 2009 by Scott Hocknull and colleagues. Meaning
"Diamantina reptile", its name derived from the location of the
nearby Diamantina River. The region was an extensive river plain
filling the lowlands left behind by the retreating Eromanga Sea.
The environment would have been a mosaic of large rivers,
freshwater pools, swamps, lakes and coastal estuaries.
