Dr. Barbara McClintock

Barbara McClintock aka The Queen of Cytogenetics
(1902-1992).
In the 1940's, she discovered genetic transposition
when she noticed a gene at one locus was changing
positions on a chromosome to another locus.
In 1983, she won a Nobel Prize for her discovery.
In addition to her more known discovery, McClintock
also proposed that telomeres shield the ends of chromosomes.
