Elizabeth Dowdeswell

Violet Elizabeth Dowdeswell is the current Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. She was sworn in
on September 23rd 2014. She was born in 1944 in Belfast, Ireland, and moved to Canada in 1947.
She attended the University of Saskatchewan and
Utah State University and later became a teacher
and university lecturer. She was elected to lead the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi,
Kenya in 1992, and served until 1998
