Esters are like a reaction between an
alcohol and a carboxylic acid.
It has 2 main parts separated by the -O-
1. Identify main part of ester
(has C= O group). Name the acid
like a carboxylic acid
2. Replace "-oic acid" with "-oate"
3. Name other part of ester (has
alkyl group attached to O). Name like
a regular branch but with no number
4. Put names together (two words, alkyl group 1st)
