The Israelites wanted to worship the God who brought them out of Egypt.
Pros:
- Seemed to genuinely want to worship God
- They went to Aaron, the divinely appointed priest
- They willingly sacrificed and worshipped
- The community was united
Cons:
- They directly disobeyed the 10 Commandments, which they likely knew about
- They somehow forgot about what God already did for them
