Ferdinand Magellan

Ferdinand Magellan was born in Sabrosa, Portugal, to a family of minor Portuguese nobility. At the age of 12 Ferdinand and his brother Diogo traveled to Lisbon to serve as pages at Queen Leonora's court. Eventually when he grew up he became a famous person known for becoming an explorer for Portugal and later Spain. He even discovered the Strait of Magellan while leading the first expedition to successfully circumnavigate the globe. He was also the first European to sail across the Pacific Ocean. {p/u}{p/
