Garen isn't a creature.
Whenever a Warrior creature you control takes
damage, you gain life equal to that damage.
Also, whenever a Warrior creature you control
is dealt combat damage by an opponent's
creature,but is not destroyed, put a +1/+1
counter on that Warrior.
