At the beginning of your upkeep, if Goldmask did not attack or block since your last upkeep put a +1/+1 on it

If you would lose the game whilst Goldmask has at least one +1/+1 counter on it, instead exile Goldmask, your life total becomes 1, and you cant lose the game this turn.

Whenever Goldmask dies or is put into exile from the battlefield you gain life equal to twice the number of +1/+1 on it
