Green Alexandrite
Alexandrite is a type of chrysoberyl. The mineral
or gemstone chrysoberyl is an aluminate of
beryllium with the formula BeAl2O4.
Different kinds of light make it look different
colors. That is called the "alexandrite effect".
One story says that alexandrite was named in
honor of Alexander II of Russia. Alexander was
not yet Tsar at the time.
