Henry IV

-December 13, 1553- May 14, 1610
-Promised to make French rich again.
-Made the tax lower and brought peace with the Ottoman Empire.
-Because he was so nice to the French, his enemies tried to assassinate him several times.
-About 1598, when Roman Catholic Church was believed to be the main religion, Henry IV
helped the protestant to gain religious freedom.
"I want there to be no peasant in my kingdom so poor
that he cannot have a chicken in his pot every
Sunday."
