Hesiod

Active C. 750-650 BC, Hesiod is credited with authorship of the Theogony. He said he met the goddess Muses while tending his father's sheep, and they inspired him to write this genealogy and cosmogony of the ancient Greek gods. Next to Homer, Hesiod is regarded as one of the most important contributors to Greek and therefore Western thought.
