Cast Hotel California only during an opponent's main phase.
When Hotel California enters the battlefield, choose a creature. Then, Put two +1/+1 counters on that creature.
At the beginning of each end step, if the chosen creature is on the battlefield, exile it until Hotel California leaves the battlefield.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
