I T H A C A

"At last we arrived in Ithaca, and sailed into the
deep harbour, which was surrounded by steep,
rocky cliffs."
(Atwood 56)
- Penelope voyaged to Ithaca with Odysseus
shortly after they were married.
- She was excited to leave the Spartan court, and
hoped to begin a new life in Ithaca.
- Penelope did not get to witness the nature of
Ithaca during her voyage due to nausea, which
was possibly due to her near-drowning experience
in childhood, or the annoyance of Poseidon.
