Indigenous male veterans
Indigenous male veterans of the first world war .
Normally indigenous people at this time would lose their treaty
rights and native status if they chose to vote in the federal
election, this was the first time the Canadian government allowed
aboriginal men who had served in the Canadian military to vote
without losing their rights or status.
