Isaria farinosa
Rapid DNA mutations
Isaria farinosa and the congeneric Isaria
fumosorosea are fungal entomopathogens with wide
host ranges. I. farinosa has been known to infect members of
Homoptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera,
Hymenoptera, and Diptera.
Most entomopathogenic fungi infect by direct penetration of the
insect cuticle with the aid of hydrolytic enzymes (e.g. proteases,
lipases, chitinases) among other factors.
