John Storie was born in Lochwinnoch, Scotland,
the eldest son in a large family. They emigrated
around 1828, starting a farm in Renfrew, ON - it
is still operating today! John's mother was Mary
McQueen, a Gaelic folk singer. At 33, he wed an
Irish lass named Anne, and they were married for
44 years before John died in Carlow, ON, at 77.
