Josephine to Jo
A seemingly small detail in the book is how
Jo's real name is Josephine, but she changed
it to Jo. She didn't like to be associated with
'pomp and frills' or anything 'girly' and acted
what was considered boyish during their
time, which is why she changed her name. It also represents how
much the stereotypes of their time can affect someone. 'Dont, Jo;
its
so boyish.' 'Thats why i do it.'
