A motion that was voted on to separate Virginia from
the rest of Britain. This was largely due to many of the
acts that were enforced on the colonies, such as the Tea
Act and Intolerable Acts. These acts led to the drafting
of the Declaration of Independence, which was adopted
on July 4th by 12 colonies, and by New York on the
19th.
