Kepler’s Supernova

•20,000 light years away
•In 1604 early astronomers, including Johannes
Kepler who became the object's name, saw the
supernova explosion that destroyed the star
{bull}This supernova is a Type ia supernova where a
small dense star, known as the white dwarf steals materials from binary stars which then
{bull}goes thermonuclear because the star cannot
contain its own weight and blows up.
