If anything were to target or affect King Crimson or its controller, phase out King Crimson and then phase in after the effect misses. When King Crimson phases out, you and your opponents can't lose the game, and nothing you or your opponents control can be damaged. When King Crimson phases in, it untaps if it was tapped and you get to take a combat step. Additionally, when King Crimson phases in, destroy target permanent and deal 5 damage to the permanents controller.
