If damage would be dealt to Lernaea's Bane, prevent that damage, then put that many +1/+1 counters on it.
{x}: Remove X +1/+1 counters from Lernaea's Bane. If {r} was spent to pay for X, Lernaea's Bane deals X damage divided as you choose among any number of targets.
