As long as Maerlok is equipped it has indestructible.

Whenever you cast an Equipment, as it enters the battlefield you may attach it to Maerlok. If you do,
tap Maerlok then you become the monarch.

As long as Maerlok remains tapped, creatures you
don't control get -X/-X, where is X is equal to
number of equipments attached to Maerlok minus 1.
