Mystic Massacre

May 26th, 1637
Captain John Mason and John Underhill, along with hundreds of
Mohegan and Narragansett allies attacked a Pequot village at Mystic
CT. The English and their allies set fire to the village and killed
between 400-700 Pequot, including women and children. This brutal
massacre broke the Pequot's military strength.
