around a positively charged nucleus and how properties
of elements can be grouped by the number of valence electrons.
First Publication: Determination of the Surface-Tension
of Water by the Method of Jet Vibration, written in
1909, won first place in a competition from the Royal
Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.
