This card may be countered by any player for {1}.
Exile target nonland permanent and deal damage
equal to the card's converted mana cost to its
owner. If Pear of Despair does not resolve when played, return it to your hand and draw a card. If
it does, it becomes a 1/1 artifact creature with defender.
