Riverboro, Maine

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is set in Riverboro, Maine, a small town resembling Hollis, Maine,
where Wiggin grew up. While Wiggin does not emphasize the time period, the novel appears
to take place sometime around the 1870s, for one characters fiancé has been killed during the
American Civil War
