Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

The rough endoplasmic reticulum, also known as the rough er, is located next to the nucleus. The rough er is a folded membrane pathway that is spotted with ribosomes, and it serves as transportation and communication between the nucleus and the rest of the cell.
