Sarah Louise 'Sally' Magee was born in Chester-
field, SC. Her family moved to Washington, LA,
and she married John, her third cousin, at 17.
They became well-off and influential planters
there, owning 64 slaves in 1860. Much of their
wealth was lost in the civil war, and their land
became Clifton, LA. Sarah died there, in 1889.
