Soul Adapter

Whenever another nontoken creature you
own dies, you may exile it. If you do, you
gain a deflection counter. (Whenever any
source would deal damage to you, prevent X damage where X is the number of deflection counters on you. Then remove a deflection
counter for each damage prevented this way.)
