Stay True to Who You Are

Anne spends a lot of time thinking about her appearance and what others will think of her. She
even tried to dye her hair black because she doesn't
like the original color. That backfired and turned
her hair green instead. The author is trying to tell
you that you shouldn't be ashamed about what you
look like.
" 'Yes it's green, ' moaned Anne. 'I thought nothing
could be as bad as red hair. But now I know it's ten
times worse to have green hair.' " (311)
