Stephen Jay Gould is an American paleontologist, born in 1941 in
New York and
died in 2002 in New York. Stephen Jay Gould
proposed the theory of punctuated equilibrium
which is the idea that evolution occurs in spurts.
•Fun Fact: Stephen Jay Gould became an assistant professor of
geology and assistant curator of invertebrate paleontology at
Harvard in 1967.
