As long as Suphrous, Wandering Mountain has no slumber counters on it, it's a creature. Mana abilities on Suphrous can't be activated as long as it is a creature.
At the beginning of your upkeep put a slumber counter on Suphrous. Then if it has two or more slumber counters on it, remove all slumber counters from Suphrous.
