As long as you have less than 10 cards in your
exile and graveyard, Thanatos isn't a creature.
Whenever a token enters the battlefield under
your control, you may return a noncreature spell
from your graveyard to your hand. Creatures you
control have 'When this creature dies, exile it and
put a 2/1 colorless artifact spirit token into play'.
